As the final items of the building renovation are being put in place, the East Lansing Public Library (ELPL) is launching a new website and catalog. In March, ELPL users will see an updated website and catalog that is a cross between Pinterest and Amazon. It is visually appealing and fun to navigate. You will still get to the website and catalog at elpl.org.
ELPL staff has been busy creating lists of books, movies, music and audiobooks for our patrons. Personally, I have been having a great time creating lists of books and movies from some books I have read in 2016 to my love of cows to my favorite children’s books to books on basketball and much more.
The new catalog will feature:
- Enhanced searching and browsing
- A cleaner and more intuitive My Account interface, now called My Library Dashboard, for viewing and renewing checked out items, placing holds, paying fines, etc.
- Shelves, for easily storing titles for later, titles you are currently reading, and titles you have completed
- Lists, for sharing your favorites with other library patrons, and the world, through email, social media and the library website
We would love for our patrons to create lists and to share what they are reading, listening to and watching!
