Coronavirus Pandemic Update
The library is still offering patrons the ability to apply for library cards online. During the library service disruptions caused by the pandemic we are waiving the requirement that you come in to get your physical card. Library staff can issue you a permanent library card number via email. Please note that the time it takes for us to get back to you after you fill out the application may vary as our schedules are erratic during this closure.
Future library patrons can now apply online for a library card before stepping foot inside the librar, opens a new windowy. Here's how the process works:
After clicking the Apply for a library card link at the bottom of this page, you'll be asked to give the following:
- First and last name
2. Once you submit the form you will see a confirmation screen with a temporary library card number. This number will allow you to place holds on books, DVDs, CDs, and more at ELPL.
3. Within 72 hours you will receive a follow-up email/call from a library staff member with confirmation that your application has been approved. They will issue you a permanent library card number and confirm your residency status and age. ELPL library cards are subject to residency requirements - click here to learn more.
4. Once you have your permanent library card number you will be able to check out digital content from the cloudLibrary, hoopla, Kanopy, cloudLibrary NewsStand, Overdrive and so much more. You will also be able to place MeLCat requests.
5. When you visit the library to pick up your library card you will need to sign the library's borrower agreement.
