Welcome to Miss Eva's Top Three! Each month I'll be picking out items from three different areas of the children's section to feature that I've enjoyed -- some new titles, some older ones, but all of them things that have caught my eye! Check out this month's picks below.
Picture Book: Goldfish Ghost by Lemony Snicket
I'm a huge Lemony Snicket fan, picture books included, and this didn't disappoint! Telling the story of a ghost of a goldfish searching a seaside town for the right company, it has all the hallmarks of Lemony Snicket -- unique, strange, funny, and sweet -- and the illustrations by Lisa Brown are fitting but still kid-appropriate.
Chapter Book: Skeleton Creek by Patrick Carman
This spooky, interactive novel is definitely for older kids -- it creeped me out plenty as an adult! -- but it's a fun, unique ghost story that comes with a really neat series of web videos to watch that add a fun twist to the plot.
Board Book: Toot by Leslie Patricelli
Leslie Patricelli has some of my favorite board books out there -- they always have bright and eye-catching illustrations and engaging text -- but there's no contest: Toot makes both babies and adults laugh the hardest.
