Due to the recently rescinded federal funding that supported the MDHHS library testing program, we will no longer be able to provide free COVID-19 at-home test kits. We’d like to thank everyone who has used this resource over the last few years to help keep our communities healthy and safe.
At the present moment, positive cases of COVID-19 in Michigan are low; however, COVID-19 is still active in our communities. It spreads via aerosols, which means it moves similarly to smoke, and can remain suspended in the air or travel farther than conversational distance. This makes COVID-19 much more easily spreadable than things like the flu, which spreads through droplets. COVID-19 can cause lasting damage to the body, especially after repeat infections. While immunocompromised and other medically vulnerable individuals are at the greatest risk for severe infection, anyone can still develop long-COVID and other complications.
Vaccines, air purifiers and proper ventilation, masking, frequent testing, staying home when you're sick, and other safety precautions have shown to be safe and effective in slowing or stopping the spread of COVID-19. By continuing to take precautions, we can protect everyone in our community.
You can learn about other COVID-19 safety precautions and find alternative testing sites from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
