Giving Tuesday is December 2, 2025. Observed the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to follow up days like Black Friday or Cyber Monday, it’s a day to support non-profit organizations and give back to your community with an overflow of generosity and kindness.
Ready to give back? You can support your library AND local businesses this Giving Tuesday. This Small Business Saturday we’re asking our community to buy gift cards from Schuler Books, Big Apple Bagels, and Wild Bird Unlimited - East Lansing, and donate them to the library for Giving Tuesday. Please drop off your gift cards at the service desk so the library can put them to good use. Purchasing gift cards and donating them to ELPL supports local businesses, your local library, and helps the community as a whole.
Wild Birds Unlimited generously provided equipment and expertise to make possible our bird sanctuary right outside our east bay windows! They have also donated supplies for our Birding Kits, which allow patrons to take birding equipment like binoculars and field guides on the go. Additionally, they give us a discount on the bird seed and suet that keeps our bird population thriving and well fed! We’ll use the gift card donations for upkeep to our birding set-up through the year so visitors can keep bird watching!
Big Apple Bagels helps keep visitors fed for various library programs, including our Books and Bagels program for 4th-6th graders, our Birding Club, and more! We buy cream cheese and other goodies to supplement, and your gift card donations will help make sure everyone is full and happy at our programs.
Schuler Books gives the library a generous discount on the purchase of books used by some of our book clubs! Your gift card donations will help us continue to provide free copies of books for participants of our kids’ programs and keep those pages turning!

- Mailing a check
- Designating us in your Kroger Community Rewards account
- Volunteer your time, or donate books and money to the Friends of the East Lansing Public Library
- Share your voice in the community! Tell your friends about library resources! Share ELPL’s social media posts! Call an elected official to share why you think supporting libraries is valuable!
Sharing your time, money, and voice are all invaluable ways to support us so we can keep serving our community.
