In 2015, Marley Dias launched the #1000BlackGirlBooks campaign to collect and donate children’s books featuring Black girls as the main characters. On February 2, she is coming to MSU as a keynote speaker as part of the Dr. William G. Anderson Lecture Series: Slavery to Freedom. For more information on the keynote address, visit http://bit.ly/3k7sXNn.
In partnership with this event, ELPL is collecting donations of new books featuring Black girls as the main characters; these books will be distributed to children in our community at a book giveaway on February 5 with the Socialight Society Bookstore! Books can be donated at the ELPL service desk and donations will be accepted until February 2. For more information on the book drive, visit https://bit.ly/3VUEexL.
