September 2016 GoodReads YA Book Group

We are very excited to introduce East Lansing Public Library's very first online discussion group for readers of all ages who enjoy young adult/teen fiction! Though the Library may on occasion host tie-in events, such as movie nights for cinematic adaptations of the books we've read, the "meetings" themselves, led by ELPL librarians, will be conducted 100% online via You'll have to create an account (it's free!) and join the group here:

How It Works

The first week of each month, we will create a new topic in the "Book of the Month" folder on the discussion board with a post that includes a few questions that participants are free to answer or ignore. Please be aware that posts following that initial jumping-off point may be rife with spoilers, so proceed with caution! September's kickoff post for Sherman Alexie's The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian is up now, so head on over whenever you're ready! And while the bulk of our conversation will probably take place throughout the month, we won't close the thread in October, so you can keep discussing it forever.

We will be selecting titles from our own collection, but as copies will likely be quite limited, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of MelCat, our interlibrary loan system, or your school library. MeLCat orders take about a week to arrive, so request them early!
