Stories in the Garden 2012

Make a difference this summer by participating in Stories in the Garden 2012.

Stories in the Garden is a yearly volunteer opportunity for teens to help kids experience books in a new and exciting way.  Stories in the Garden gives teens a chance to read picture books to younger children in hte beautiful Michigan 4-H Children's Garden.  Now in its 13th year, Stories in the Garden has won an award from the American Library Association, as an Outstanding Program for Young Adults.

Teen Storytellers are needed to make the 2012 Stories in the Garden sessions the best ever.  If you are entering grades 7-12, you are invited to be a part of a story-telling team.

Storytellers must attend a special planning sessions held at the East Lansing Public Library, where they will learn about reading to children, find partners, choose appropriate books and practice reading out loud.

Sessions are available in June, July and August.

All teens who complete a planning session and attend a Storytelling Day will receive a special storyteller T-shirt and water bottle.
