Renewing your Library Card

To renew your library card, please bring a valid Picture ID to the Circulation desk. The following are acceptable forms of Picture ID:

  • Driver's license
  • State ID
  • Government issued ID

If the address listed on your ID does not match your current residence, please bring proof of your current address. Proof of current address can include one of the following:

  1. Listing as homeowner on City Assessor's Property Search (patron's name must be listed as owner or patron must furnish proof of ownership).
  2. Current lease or deed.
  3. Most recent utility bill or bank statement (checks are not an acceptable alternative).
  4. MSU students may use listing on MSU People Search or StuInfo to verify local address.

College Students:  library cards for college students expire May 15 and August 15 each year (when the majority of the student population changes residences)

If you are a college student and your current address is not on your valid picture ID, you can only renew your library card with a copy of a valid current lease, updated listing on the MSU Search Web Site or StuInfo.

Non-Resident Cardholders

If you renew your card early, it will be renewed from the current expiration date to give you a full year of additional membership.

Minors

Both you and your parent or guardian must come to the library to renew your card. You may come in separately but the card will not be renewed until your parent or guardian brings in a valid picture ID that matches the criteria listed above.

If you have any questions, please call the Circulation Desk at 517-351-2420, or email us at elplcirc@cityofeastlansing.com
