Story Time and Baby Time Are Back in Session This Week!

Story Time and Baby Time will resume at their regulary scheduled times this week!  We will be very excited to see all of our old and new Story Time and Baby Time friends!

The regular weekly schedule includes:
Story Time on Tuesdays @ 10:30 am, Tuesdays @ 6:30 pm, and Fridays @ 10:30 am
Baby Time on Mondays @ 10:30 am and Wednesdays @ 10:30 am

(The next break from the regular schedule will occur April 1-April 5, 2013)

This week, we will be sharing stories, songs, rhymes, and a craft featuring rabbits and starring the Velveteen Rabbit!  The Velveteen Rabbit (Or How Toys Become Real), written by Margery Williams with illustrations by William Nicholson, was originally published in 1922.  The Velveteen Rabbit was Williams' first children's book.  It has been republished many times and is considered a classic in the world of children's literature. The Wharton Center's production of The Velveteen Rabbit is this Saturday, January 12 at 1:30 and 4:00 pm.  Register by this Wednesday, January 9, at the children's desk, to win free tickets to this weekend's performance.

One of the book's most famous passages is as follows:

"What is REAL?" asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"

"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."

Missing Fish!

Have you seen this fish? Has he accidentally gone home with you?  Mr. Sturgeon attended the fantastic Stuffed Animal Sleepover on Tuesday, July 31st at the library, and spent the night with all of the other animals, but he could not be found on Wednesday, August 1 with his other animal friends!  It is very important that he is returned to his child as soon as possible.  If you see this fish in the library or elsewhere, please help him swim his way back to a librarian.  Thank you, in advance, for any help you may be able to provide!  If you see this fish out around town, please call the library at 351-2420.  Miss Karrie will be delighted to come and get him!
